1) 45*3 = 135 (км)
2)45+12= 57 (км)
3) 57*3= 171 (км)
4) 171+135+56= 362 (км)

Problem Analysis

We have two trains that start simultaneously from two stations, which are 56 km apart. The first train has a speed of 45 km/h, while the second train has a speed that is 12 km/h faster than the first train. We need to find the distance between the two trains after 3 hours and after 10 hours.

Solution

To find the distance between the two trains after a certain time, we need to calculate the distance traveled by each train and then find the difference between their positions.

Let's calculate the distance traveled by each train after 3 hours and after 10 hours.

Distance Traveled by the First Train

The first train has a speed of 45 km/h. Therefore, the distance traveled by the first train after 3 hours is: Distance_Train1_3 = Speed_Train1 * Time = 45 km/h * 3 h = 135 km.

Similarly, the distance traveled by the first train after 10 hours is: Distance_Train1_10 = Speed_Train1 * Time = 45 km/h * 10 h = 450 km.

Distance Traveled by the Second Train

The speed of the second train is 12 km/h faster than the first train. Therefore, the speed of the second train is: Speed_Train2 = Speed_Train1 + 12 km/h = 45 km/h + 12 km/h = 57 km/h.

The distance traveled by the second train after 3 hours is: Distance_Train2_3 = Speed_Train2 * Time = 57 km/h * 3 h = 171 km.

Similarly, the distance traveled by the second train after 10 hours is: Distance_Train2_10 = Speed_Train2 * Time = 57 km/h * 10 h = 570 km.

Distance Between the Trains

To find the distance between the two trains after a certain time, we need to find the difference between their positions. Since the trains are moving in opposite directions, the distance between them is the sum of the distances traveled by each train.

Therefore, the distance between the two trains after 3 hours is: Distance_Between_Trains_3 = Distance_Train1_3 + Distance_Train2_3 = 135 km + 171 km = 306 km.

Similarly, the distance between the two trains after 10 hours is: Distance_Between_Trains_10 = Distance_Train1_10 + Distance_Train2_10 = 450 km + 570 km = 1020 km.

Answer

Therefore, the distance between the two trains after 3 hours is 306 km, and the distance between them after 10 hours is 1020 km.
