Television is an irreplaceable part of our lives. It has been entertaining us from our far childhood.

Nowadays, television is becoming less popular with teenagers, because they never know what TV show is going to roll next. They replaced TV with a YouTube, which allows them all to watch videos about anything they find interesting whatever the time or the place. Moreover, YT gives an opportunity to go back to any time code of the video.

Personally, the last time i watched TV was about a month ago. I can say that i used to watch it, but now i don't do that at all.

I dislike the fact that TV shows spend too much of my free time. For instance, if i started watching a TV show, it may result into a 5-hour session.

Ladies and gentlemen, today I would like to share my thoughts on the topic of television, a powerful medium of mass communication that has become an integral part of our lives. Television has evolved significantly over the years, transforming from a basic device with limited channels to a sophisticated platform offering diverse content. However, the question arises: is watching TV still a popular pastime with teenagers today?

In this digital age, where smartphones, tablets, and other gadgets are prevalent, one might assume that television has lost its appeal among teenagers. However, the truth is that television continues to captivate the younger generation, albeit in a different way. While traditional TV consumption may have declined to some extent, the rise of streaming services and online platforms has allowed teenagers to access their favorite shows, movies, and documentaries on-demand.

Teenagers still find TV to be a popular pastime due to several reasons. Firstly, television offers a wide range of entertainment options, including reality shows, sports events, and engaging series. It provides an escape from the pressures of daily life and offers a shared experience among friends and family when discussing the latest episodes or plot twists.

As for my personal TV viewing habits, I must admit that I spend a considerable amount of time in front of the screen each week. On average, I watch around 10-15 hours of television per week. This may seem like a lot to some, but it's important to note that I watch a variety of content, including educational programs, news broadcasts, and thought-provoking documentaries.

Despite the many benefits of television, there are aspects that I dislike about it. One of the main drawbacks is the excessive amount of advertisements that interrupt the viewing experience. Advertisements often disrupt the flow of a program, stretching its duration and taking away from the content itself. Moreover, the commercialization of television can influence viewers' behavior and consumer choices, which can be problematic, especially for impressionable teenagers.

Furthermore, the rise of reality TV shows and sensationalized news coverage is another aspect that I find disheartening. These types of programs often prioritize entertainment value over informative content, leading to a distortion of reality and the spread of sensationalism. It is essential for teenagers to critically analyze the information they consume and develop a discerning eye towards the content they watch.

In conclusion, while television may have faced competition from digital media platforms, it still holds its ground as a popular pastime among teenagers. The accessibility to a wide range of content and the shared experience it provides contribute to its continued appeal. Nevertheless, it is crucial to approach television with a critical mindset, being aware of its drawbacks, such as excessive advertising and the potential influence of sensationalized programming. By doing so, we can make the most of this powerful medium while staying informed and entertained. Thank you.
