Ответы на вопрос

What is the "Schlieffen Plan"?
The Schlieffen Plan was a German military strategy devised by Count Alfred von Schlieffen in 1905. It was designed to allow Germany to swiftly defeat France in the west and then focus on Russia in the east in the event of a two-front war. The plan aimed to avoid a prolonged two-front war, which Germany feared due to its inferiority in terms of resources and manpower compared to France and Russia.
The plan involved a rapid and massive German offensive through Belgium and Luxembourg to encircle Paris and defeat the French army before turning east to face the Russian threat. The plan was based on the assumption that Russia would be slow to mobilize its forces, giving Germany the opportunity to defeat France swiftly and then concentrate its forces on the Eastern Front.
The Schlieffen Plan was put into action at the start of World War I in 1914 but ultimately failed due to a combination of factors, including unexpected Belgian resistance, logistical challenges, and the inability to achieve a quick victory over France. This failure led to a prolonged and costly war on the Western Front, which significantly impacted the course of the conflict
