XVIII век – это период настоящих контрастов. Быт как и образ жизни русского народа, полностью зависел от того какую нишу в обществе занимает  человек.

В послепетровской России шикарные светские приемы и надменная роскошь жизни дворянства стояла рядом с голодным и тяжелым существованием крепостных крестьян. К огромному сожалению, это не вызывало никакого дискомфорта со стороны первых. И глубокие различия между жизнью высших и низших сословий, считалось как должное.
