Сражение при Херонее (август, 338 до н. э.) — сражение в Греции под селением Херонея в Беотии, в ходе которого македонский царь Филипп II разгромил объединенную армию греческих городов-государств.

Battle of Chaeronea
The Battle of Chaeronea in 338 BC was a major confrontation between the forces of Macedon led by Philip II of Macedon and an alliance of Greek city-states led by Athens and Thebes. This battle resulted in a decisive victory for Philip II and had significant consequences for Greece and the wider Greek world.
The immediate result was that Philip II gained control over most of Greece and became the dominant power in the region. He established the League of Corinth later in 338 BC, which declared Philip II the "hegemon", or leader, of Greece. While Greek cities nominally retained their independence, Philip ensured Macedonian hegemony over Greece and curtailed the city-states' ability to conduct independent foreign policy.
In the longer term, Philip's victory paved the way for his son Alexander the Great to conduct his famous campaigns of conquest into Asia and beyond. With Greece securely under Macedonian control, Alexander was able to draw on Greek manpower and resources as he set out to expand his empire. The defeat at Chaeronea marked the end of Athens' status as a leading power in Greece and shifted power dynamics in favor of the rising Macedonian kingdom.
