Results of the Great Northern War for Russia

The Great Northern War between Russia and Sweden lasted from 1700 to 1721. It resulted in a decisive victory for Russia and had major consequences.

Russia gained control of territories along the Baltic coast, including Ingria, Estonia, Livonia and parts of Karelia This gave Russia access to the Baltic Sea for the first time and established it as the dominant power in Northern Europe.
