Початок  національного відродження українців спричинив збільшення зацікавленості до наук, тому з’явиляються багато історичних, мовознавчих, етнографічних праць. Значну роль у розвиткові наукових досліджень відігравало Товариство наук при Харківському університеті (1812–1829 рр.)
З ініціативи Каразіна протягом 1812–1830 рр. перші метеорологічні станції було відкрито в Харкові, Києві, Миколаєві, Полтаві. За даними їхніх спостережень він уважав за можливе передбачати похолодання, бурі, посухи тощо.
Чимало наукових праць із ботаніки опублікував М.Максимович.
Видатну роль у розвиткові хімічної науки відіграли праці професорів Харківського університету О.Ходнєєва та М.Бекетова, а
спостереження небесних явищ було здійснено професором Харківського університету Т.Осиповським (1765–1832)
