А Америго Веспуччи хорошо изучил материк. Составил карты и понял,что это новый материк,ранее неизвестный.Сам Америго называл описываемый континент "Новый свет". Он не только составил карты земель,ещё он описал природу,необычных животных. Даже создали книгу с его заметками и описанием материка.

Мартин Вальдземюллер изменил название "Новый свет" на Америку в своих картах.Именно он ввел в обиход название Америка. Картограф мотивировал это решение тем, что карта составлялась исходя из более точных и полных материалов Веспуччи, а не по примерным описаниям Колумба.
