4. Alpha Radiation: - Alpha radiation consists of alpha particles, which are made up of two protons and two neutrons. - This type of radiation is relatively heavy and has a short range in air and can be stopped by a sheet of paper or human skin.
5. Beta Radiation: - Beta radiation consists of beta particles, which are high-energy, high-speed electrons or positrons emitted by certain types of radioactive nuclei. - Beta particles can penetrate living tissue and can be stopped by a few millimeters of aluminum.
6. Gamma Radiation: - Gamma radiation consists of gamma rays, which are high-energy photons emitted by radioactive decay or nuclear reactions. - Gamma rays are highly penetrating and require dense shielding, such as lead or concrete, to reduce exposure.
7. Neutron Radiation: - Neutron radiation consists of free neutrons, which are emitted during nuclear fission or fusion. - Neutrons can penetrate living tissue and are typically shielded by hydrogen-rich materials, such as water or paraffin.
8. Microwave Radiation: - Microwave radiation is a type of non-ionizing radiation that has lower energy than visible light and is commonly used in communication technology and cooking.
9. Infrared Radiation: - Infrared radiation is also a type of non-ionizing radiation and is commonly associated with heat and thermal imaging.
10. Radiofrequency Radiation: - Radiofrequency radiation is used in telecommunications and includes radio waves, microwaves, and other wireless communication signals.
