Как правильно читать английские прилогательные с окончанием -ed

Ответы на вопрос

Если глагол заканчивается на гласный,то окончание -ed читается как -d.
Если глагол заканчивается на звонкий согласный,то окончание -ed тоже читается как -d.
А если глагол заканчивается на глухой согласный звук,то окончание -ed будет читаться как -t.
Также если глагол заканчивается на звук t/d, то окончание -ed читается как -id, то есть к основе добавляется еще один слог.
Не знаю как по другому объяснить :)

How to Properly Pronounce English Adjectives Ending in -ed
When it comes to pronouncing English adjectives ending in -ed, it's important to consider the differences between British English (BrE) and American English (AmE) pronunciations. In BrE, words like "defence," "licence," and "pretence" are pronounced with a /s/ sound at the end, while in AmE, they are pronounced with a /z/ sound at the end. Here are some examples of the differences between BrE and AmE pronunciations:
- BrE (UK): defence, licence (n.), pretence - AmE (US): defense, license (n.), pretense.
Past Simple Tense and Pronunciation of -ed Endings
In the past simple tense, verbs ending in -ed are pronounced differently based on the preceding sound. Here are some examples:
- Verbs ending in -ed after a voiceless sound (such as /t/, /k/, /f/, /p/, /s/, /ʃ/, /tʃ/) are pronounced as /t/: e.g., "looked," "walked," "laughed". - Verbs ending in -ed after a voiced sound (such as /d/, /b/, /g/, /v/, /z/, /ʒ/, /dʒ/) are pronounced as /d/: e.g., "played," "grabbed," "hugged".
Examples and Usage
The pronunciation of -ed endings in English adjectives and verbs is crucial for clear communication. For instance, in the sentence "I stopped talking to him," the -ed ending in "stopped" is pronounced as /t/ because it follows a voiceless sound, while in the sentence "Bob and Mary played tennis two days ago," the -ed ending in "played" is pronounced as /d/ because it follows a voiced sound.
Historical Context and Language Evolution
The differences in pronunciation between BrE and AmE can be traced back to historical and linguistic factors.
