In 1543, at the age of 70, Copernicus published his groundbreaking work titled "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium" (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres). In this monumental book, he presented his heliocentric model, proposing that the planets, including Earth, orbited the Sun in perfect circles. This revolutionary concept challenged the Ptolemaic geocentric model that had prevailed for centuries.
