Вообще, глаголы в английском языке имеют такие формы: инфинитив ('root': to think, to shake, to boil, to do), форма в прошедшем времени (e.g. thought, shook, boiled, did) и форма Past Participle (thought, shaken, boiled, done).

Если с инфинитивом всё понятно, то глаголы в Past Simple и Past Participle делятся на правильные (regular verbs) и неправильные (irregular verbs).

Чтобы поставить правильный глагол в прошедшее время, нужно добавить окончание -ed: boiled, cooked, lived, loved.

Чтобы поставить неправильный глагол в прошедшее время, пользуются таблицей неправильных глаголов (см. фото; разумеется, это не все неправильные глаголы, а самые часто используемые, другие Вы можете найти). Но всё равно, рано или поздно, их нужно запомнить.
