People living in the countryside normally dream of moving to large cities. And vice versa, those who live in the city are trying to find some peace and quiet in smaller towns or villages. As I live in a city, even more in its downtown, I’d like to say a few words about pros and cons of such place. My parents bought this apartment six years ago. Before that we lived in one of the city suburbs. The decision to move to the central part was connected with the nearness to their work environment. They reduced travel time to work, but I was forced to change the school. Speaking about the good side of living in a large city, especially in its central part, I’d like to mention the aesthetic side. Our neighborhood is really lovely. There are several picturesque parks, fountains and historic monuments. There is also retro architecture, which is rather eye-catching. I like the fact, that two famous theatres are situated just ten minutes of walk from our home. Many restaurants, small cafes, clothes stores, cultural sites and other attractive places can be found in central district. That’s why there are many tourists from other countries and cities. I like the multicultural aspect found in large cities and the variety of choices. I mean, one can choose the place to visit on Friday evening after the exhausting day at work. He can meet up with friends, go to the restaurant or to the movie theatre. People don’t have the same choice when they live in a village. Now, I’d like to mention several bad points of living in large cities. We all know that cities are full of visual, air and noise pollution. It is especially true about the downtown. It gets rather noisy at our district at weekends. Another drawback is that travelling from one district to another takes too much time. As for me, I don’t like using the Tube at all, but there is no other option when I want to get to the ballet school which I attend twice a week. In conclusion, I’d like to say that if I had to choose where to live, I’d still go with a city. However, we all sometimes want to experience the peace and quiet of the countryside.

Мені подобається багатонаціональний аспект великих міст і різноманітність вибору. Я маю на увазі те, що можна в п'ятничний вечір вибрати місце для відвідування, щоб відпочити після виснажливого робочого дня. Можна зустрітися з друзями, піти в ресторан або в кінотеатр. У людей, що живуть в селі, ні такого вибору. Тепер я хотіла б виділити кілька поганих сторін життя в великих містах.
