ОТВЕТИТЬ НА ВОПРОСЫ ПО ТЕКСТУ: 1. Why is the arctic desert so unusual? 2. Are there many plants
and flowers? Do people live there? 3. How do you understand “precipitation per year”? 4. Where is the arctic desert located? 5. What is the weather like in warmest months? THE ARCTIC DESERT We associate deserts with hot, dry climates, so it,s surprising to learn that they exist in the Arctic, where snow and ice are abundant. Looks can be deceiving, though; in Russia,s Arctic desert, for instance, precipitation per year is less than 20 centimetres and plant life is almost nonexistent. In addition to that, darkness rules the land for around nine months out of the year. This peculiar desert resides on Russia,s northern most islands, which are anywhere from 100 to 800 kilometres from the mainland. Not much goes on up there, aside from a few polar bears trying to subsist in the harsh climate. Most of what little plant life that does exist only grows a few centimeters tall. Temperatures remain below 10 degrees Celsius during even the warmest months, and naturally, no human beings make their home in this region.

1. We used to think that deserts have dry climates and are extremely hot. But climate can be deceiving. The arctic desert is frosty and snow is abundant there. Exactly these things make this desert become offbeat.
2. There is almost no any vegetation or shrubs since precipitation per year is less than twenty centimetres, but still it exists. In addition, polar bears reside in this desert and they only try to save their own lives. Aside from, people won't make their home in this frosty land. In my opinion, the reason why they won't it is that they won't subsist there.
3. I consider this as an annual moderated level of rainfall from the clouds which hits the ground.
4. It is located in the north of Russia from one hundred to eight hundred kilometres from the mainland and encompasses many islands.
5. It seems like the temperature is punishing since it is below ten degrees Celsius, as it happens before the warmest months come and even in these moments the weather will be extremely cold and blustery.

1. The Arctic desert is unusual because it exists in a cold, snowy, and icy climate, unlike the typical hot and dry climates we associate with deserts. 2. There are very few plants and flowers in the Arctic desert, and it is almost devoid of plant life. People do not live there due to the harsh climate and lack of resources. 3. "Precipitation per year" refers to the amount of water, in the form of rain or snow, that falls in a particular area over the course of a year. In the case of the Arctic desert, the precipitation per year is less than 20 centimeters, indicating a very dry climate. 4. The Arctic desert is located on Russia's northernmost islands, which are located anywhere from 100 to 800 kilometers from the mainland. 5. The weather in the warmest months in the Arctic desert remains below 10 degrees Celsius, and the region experiences darkness for around nine months out of the year, making it a very inhospitable environment for human habitation.
