The natural disaster I would like to discuss is the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. It occurred on the morning of December 26, 2004, when a massive undersea earthquake with a magnitude of 9.1–9.3 struck off the west coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia. This powerful earthquake triggered a series of devastating tsunamis that affected 14 countries, including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand. The tsunami waves reached heights of up to 100 feet (30 meters) and traveled inland as far as 2 miles (3 kilometers), causing widespread destruction along the coastlines.
