Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin was a prominent Russian cosmonaut. He was the first man who dared to make a journey into outer space. Gagarin was born on March 9th 1934, in a small village called Klushino, near Gzhatsk. Today this town is called Gagarin after the first Russian cosmonaut. His family was neither rich nor famous. Gagarin’s father was a humble worker and his mum was a milkmaid. Apart from Yuri, there were three other children in the family. The future cosmonaut had an uneasy childhood. As many people at those times, his family suffered from Nazi occupation. When he was a child, his father taught him to make toy planes. In 1941 he started attending a local school, but his studies were interrupted by the World War II. The whole village was occupied by Germans in November of the same year. However, life continued and Yuri grew as a smart and active boy. Together with his mother and his siblings he had to hide in a dugout during the war. Soon they moved to Gzhatsk and then to Moscow region. In 1951 he graduated with an honors degree from an evening school in Lyubertsy. In 1955 he graduated from the Saratov Industrial Technical School. During his student years he also attended a local aviation club. Gradually, aviation became his life’s work. In 1960 he started preparing for the flight into space. His first flight into space took place on April 12th 1961. Gagarin spent 108 minutes there in the spaceship “Vostok”, and this date became an international Cosmonautics Day. After this flight he became a world hero. He visited many countries and met millions of people. He died on March 27th 1968 but will be always dearly remembered in Russia and in many other corners of the globe.

However, the altitude record - 302 kilometers belongs to Gagarin. His way to the first space flight began in the Gzhatsky district of the Smolensk region. Then the vocational school in Lyubertsy. Specialty - moulder-foundry, fifth grade. At the same time, a school of working youth. The Industrial Technical School in Saratov and at the same time the flying club. Aviation School in Orenburg. And all with honors, with letters of commendation. In 1957, the pilot was a fighter. Since 1960, he is a communist. That's all that was "before".Most people find it difficult to determine when they approach the climax of their lives. And for many it does not happen at all.Units can be proud of two peaks, equal in value, on their life path. To them, for example, belongs O. Picard, who designed the stratosphere and set a height record on it (it was not easy to go to space!), And already in the fifties he built a bathyscaphe that broke all records to the depth of immersion in the water. The climax in Gagarin's life is known to everyone.Dawn. We do not know anything yet.The usual "The latest news" ...And he is already flying through the constellations. The earth will wake up with his name.April 12, 1961 from the Baikonur cosmodrome, took off in the air, gained the first space velocity and launched a free flight in orbit around the Earth, the world's first spacecraft "Vostok" with a man on board. And this first person was Yuri Gagarin. All radio stations of the Soviet Union work: the weight of the ship is 4725 kilograms, the angle of inclination to the equator is 65 degrees 04 ', the period of revolution around the Earth is 89.1 minutes, the cosmonaut feels well.Good! Got to land ...108 minutes went on this enchanting flight. But what minutes it is! Behind each of them stand the centuries of struggle, of labor, of searching; Hard work of thousands of the best minds of the Earth. Dreams of people about the carpet-plane, the work of Leonardo da Vinci, the death of Giordano Bruno, the laws of Newton and Einstein, the ball of the Montgolfier brothers and Mozhaisky plane, the works of Tsiolkovsky, the exploits of Chkalov, the efforts of the whole country that created miracle-rockets and miracle-ships, Stage in revealing the secrets of nature, and what stage! And it began to be fun. When the command was given to start engines, Gagarin joyfully shouted: "Well, let's go! .."

Yuri Gagarin, the first human to journey into outer space, was born on March 9, 1934, in the village of Klushino, near Gzhatsk, which is now known as Gagarin, in Russia. Gagarin's early life was shaped by the tumultuous events of World War II, as his family faced the hardships of the German occupation.
Despite the challenges, Gagarin excelled in his studies and displayed a keen interest in aviation from a young age. He joined a local flying club and later enrolled in the Saratov Industrial Technical School, where he studied to become a foundryman. However, his passion for aviation continued to grow, and he eventually applied to the Orenburg Pilot's School, where he was accepted.
Gagarin's determination and natural aptitude for flying caught the attention of his instructors, who recognized his potential as a pilot. He continued to impress throughout his training and was selected to join the Soviet space program, known as the Cosmonaut Corps.
On April 12, 1961, Gagarin made history when he became the first human to orbit the Earth. He boarded the Vostok 1 spacecraft and embarked on a 108-minute journey that would change the course of space exploration forever. During his flight, Gagarin experienced the sensation of weightlessness and gazed upon the Earth from a perspective no human had seen before.
Upon his return, Gagarin was hailed as a national hero and received numerous awards and accolades. His accomplishment captured the imagination of people around the world and marked a significant milestone in the Space Race between the Soviet Union and the United States.
Gagarin's historic flight propelled him to international fame, and he embarked on a global tour to promote the Soviet Union's achievements in space exploration. He continued to train as a backup cosmonaut for future missions but never flew into space again.
Tragically, on March 27, 1968, Yuri Gagarin's life was cut short when the MiG-15 jet he was piloting crashed during a routine training flight. The loss of this pioneering astronaut was deeply mourned, but his legacy as a space exploration pioneer and symbol of human achievement lives on.
Yuri Gagarin's remarkable journey from a small village in Russia to the stars remains an inspiration to generations of aspiring astronauts. His bravery, dedication, and pioneering spirit continue to remind us of the boundless possibilities of human exploration and the uncharted frontiers that await us in the vastness of space.
