Иван Яковлевич Билибин – русский живописец-иллюстратор, являвшийся во многом первооткрывателем и новатором в области живописи. Он был большим любителем истории Древней Руси и русского народного фольклора, что явно показывают его картины, напоённые трепетным отношением художника к изображаемым объектам. А изображал Иван Яковлевич чаще всего персонажей сказок, былин и преданий, и делал он это, невозможно не признать, мастерски. Я, как и, уверен, многие люди моего поколения, обязаны своими яркими детскими впечатлениями от прочтения сказок именно Билибину, так как его иллюстрации к любимым сказкам были самыми запоминающимися, яркими и содержательными, они несли (и несут) в себя частичку души живописца, а это, в работе художника бесценно.
