Recent Terrorist Attacks in Russia

1. Beslan School Siege (2004): One of the most devastating terrorist attacks in Russia's history, the Beslan school siege took place in September 2004. 3. Domodedovo Airport Bombing (2011): On January 24, 2011, a suicide bomber detonated explosives in the international arrivals hall of Moscow's Domodedovo Airport. The attack resulted in the deaths of 37 people and injured over 170 others. The airport bombing was attributed to a terrorist group from the North Caucasus region.

4. Volgograd Bombings (2013-2014): Volgograd, a city in southern Russia, was targeted by two separate bombings in December 2013. The first attack occurred on December 29, when a suicide bomber detonated explosives at the city's main railway station, killing 18 people. The second bombing took place on December 30, when another suicide bomber targeted a trolleybus, resulting in the deaths of 16 individuals. These attacks were attributed to extremist groups from the North Caucasus region.

5. Saint Petersburg Metro Bombing (2017): On April 3, 2017, a suicide bomber detonated explosives on a train traveling between the Sennaya Ploshchad and Tekhnologichesky Institut metro stations in Saint Petersburg. The attack claimed the lives of 15 people and injured dozens more. The perpetrator was identified as a Russian citizen of Kyrgyz origin with ties to radical Islamist groups.
