Под воздействием своих чувств был способен не только героически сражаться, но и предать своих товарищей. Любовь к прекрасной панночке погубила младшего сына Тараса. Поддавшись чувствам он забыл любовь к Родине и долг перед товарищами, и пуля, выпущенная рукой родного отца со словами: «Я тебя породил, я тебя и убью», оборвала молодую жизнь Андрия.
