Феод — в странах средневековой Западной Европы земельное владение или фиксированный доход (в деньгах или в натуре), пожалованное сюзереном своему вассалу в наследственное владение под условием несения последним феодальных служб в пользу сюзерена. Поскольку вассалы, как правило, часть полученной земли или дохода передавали на таких же условиях во владение своим вассалам, то в результате над одним и тем же земельным владением возникала так называемая феодальная лестница. Феод являлся формой раздробления права собственности между рядом собственников.
