Человек знаком с медью ещё с далёкой древности.В природе медь помимо полезных ископаемых встречается и в самородном виде. Бронза(сплав меди и олова) и сама медь длительное время была самой употребительной. Её использование-это целая эпоха человечества.Эта эпоха называлась бронзовым веком. Первоначально человек использовал сомородную медь, но в течение времени появился сплав меди. Из рудников, используемых для добычи меди, особая слава пришла на рудники, расположенные на небольшом острове-Кипре. От сюда,видимо, произошло название меди на латинском языке-племена,населявшие европейскую часть страны.
