Planet Named after the God of Trade
The planet named after the god of trade is Mercury. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun in our solar system and is named after the Roman god Mercury, who was the god of commerce, communication, and travel.
Mercury is a small, rocky planet with a diameter of about 4,879 kilometers (3,032 miles) and is similar in size to Earth's Moon. It has a thin atmosphere and is known for its extreme temperatures, ranging from -173 degrees Celsius (-280 degrees Fahrenheit) at night to 427 degrees Celsius (800 degrees Fahrenheit) during the day.
Mercury's proximity to the Sun means that it has a short year, completing one orbit around the Sun in just 88 Earth days. It also has a slow rotation, taking about 59 Earth days to complete one rotation on its axis. This slow rotation results in long, scorching hot days and extremely cold nights on the planet.
Mercury has been visited by several space missions, including NASA's Mariner 10 and MESSENGER (MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry, and Ranging) missions. These missions have provided valuable information about the planet's surface, composition, and magnetic field.
