My father, Harald Dahl, was born in 1873 and came from a small town near Oslo called Sarpsborg. His father had a shop in Sarpsborg where he sold various items ranging from cheese to soap. My grandfather was born around 1820.

Growing up, my father and his brother Oscar were very close friends. After they finished school, they both decided to leave Sarpsborg and explore opportunities in bigger countries like England or France. They believed that a small town in a small country like Norway wouldn't provide them with the chance to make a fortune.

Uncle Oscar chose France as his destination, while my father, Harald, moved to South Wales in England. It was in South Wales where I was born and raised.
