Every day we  need some information. It may be information of all kinds: about sport, about study, about health. There are many ways to recieve any information you need:  from newspapers and magazines, TV and radio programmes. Of course, radio is less popular than newspapers or TV. As for me I listen to the radio only in a car and in a bus, I don't listen to the radio at school or at home except the time when I do my homework. But very seldom, because I have Internet and I prefer listening some music and news using it not radio. Of course, I know some radio stations such as "Mayak", "Russain Radio" and "Eho Moskvy" (Эхо Москвы - название передач не переводится на иностранный язык) and my favourite radio programme is "Virgin" because they play rock and popular music 24 hours a day.

When we speak about mass media I always speak about TV and TV programmes.

 Millions of people are fond of watching. There are many different TV programmes, shows, soups, interesting films, advertisements, news, plays to watch.

My parents spend a lot of time watching everything. Of course, sometimes they show something interesting but not very often.  If somewhere something important or dangerous takes place journalists will report these events on TV, but their endless soups are awful.

Other people say that television is becoming a national disease. I agree with them. 

Lots of my friends are fond of watching but I have to confess, I hate TV programmes. I think it's waste of time. And I think that they damage their eyes, become lazy, put on their weight and have no time to do sports or to read books. 

I prefer doing sports, playing games in the open air and taking part in different sport competitions.

Есть много способов, чтобы получить любую необходимую информацию: от газет и журналов, теле-и радиопрограмм. Конечно, радио менее популярно, чем газеты или телевидение. Что касается меня, я слушаю радио только в машине и в автобусе, я не слушаю радио в школе или дома, за исключением времени, когда я делаю домашнее задание. Но очень редко, потому что у меня есть интернет и я предпочитаю слушать музыку и новости, используя его, а не радио. Конечно, я знаю некоторые радиостанции, такие как "Маяк", "Русское радио» и «Эхо Москвы", а моя любимая радиопрограмма "Вирджи", потому что они передают рок и поп-музыку 24 часа в сутки.

Когда мы говорим о масс-медиа, я всегда говорю о телевидении и телепрограммах. Миллионы людей любят смотреть телевизор. Есть много различных телевизионных программ, шоу, сериалов, интересных фильмов, рекламных роликов, новостей, пьес, которые можно посмотреть по телевизору.
Мои родители проводят много времени, смотря все подряд. Конечно, иногда по телевизору показывают что-то интересное, но не очень часто. Если где-то что-то важное или опасное происходит, журналисты сообщат об этих событиях по телевидению, но их бесконечные сериалы - это ужасно.
Другие люди говорят, что телевидение становится национальной болезнью. Я с ними согласен.
Многие мои друзья любят смотреть телевизор, но я должен признаться, я ненавижу телевизионные программы. Я думаю, что это пустая трата времени. И я думаю, что они портят зрение, становятся ленивыми, увеличивают свой вес и не имеют времени, чтобы заниматься спортом или читать книги.
Я предпочитаю заниматься спортом, играть в игры на открытом воздухе и принимать участие в различных спортивных соревнованиях.

However, there are also negative aspects to the role of mass media in my family. One major concern is the overwhelming influence of advertisements. My family is constantly bombarded with commercials promoting various products and services. This can sometimes lead to impulsive buying decisions or a desire to constantly upgrade possessions. It is essential for us to be critical consumers and not be swayed by the persuasive techniques used in advertising.

Another issue is the potential negative impact of excessive screen time. Watching television or scrolling through social media for extended periods can result in decreased physical activity, isolation, and a lack of face-to-face communication among family members. It is important for us to set boundaries and establish screen-free moments during the day to encourage healthier habits and maintain strong relationships.

In conclusion, the role of mass media in my family is significant. It provides us with information, entertainment, and opportunities for shared experiences. However, we need to be aware of the potential negative effects, such as excessive consumerism and screen time, and take steps to mitigate them. Striking a balance between utilizing mass media for its benefits while being mindful of its drawbacks is crucial for maintaining a healthy and harmonious family environment.
