Thanksgiving Day in the USA is pronounced as "thangks-giv-ing dey." It is a holiday celebrated by all Americans every year. The story of Thanksgiving Day began in 1620, when a group of people decided to leave England and go to live in America. They wanted to have the freedom to practice their religion and create a better life for themselves.

On September 16th, 1620, they departed from Plymouth, a port on the south coast of England, on a ship called "the Mayflower." There were about a hundred of them, and they brought their animals along, including pigs, goats, and chickens. It took them approximately a month or two to cross the Atlantic Ocean, relying solely on sails and the wind, as there were no engines on those ships.

Finally, on November 9th, they spotted America. However, not everyone survived the journey. Some became sick and passed away before reaching America. The first winter in America was extremely challenging for the travelers, who were known as the Pilgrims. Fortunately, the Native Americans, also known as Indians, came to their aid. They taught the Pilgrims how to hunt, fish, and grow corn.

The following year, the Pilgrims had an abundant harvest and plenty of food. In gratitude for their new home, they built the town of Plymouth and thanked God for their blessings. This event occurred nearly four hundred years ago. Today, American families gather together on the fourth Thursday of November each year to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. The traditional food enjoyed on this day is turkey and pumpkin pie.
