It seems to me that the United Kingdom is not a small country. I believe that it is one of the leading countries now because it had many rich colonies in the past.
(Мне кажется, что UK не маленькая страна. Я думаю, что она одна из ведущих стран сейчас, т.к. у нее было много богатых колоний в прошлом.)

I suppose the UK may lose Northern Ireland soon and Wales and Scotland later, like it lost Hong Kong in 1997, because of the differences in languages, culture and history.

As I see it, British people don't travel much because they live not too far from the sea, besides they love their country very much (they are very patriotic).
