* I make myself calm by this fact.

One of my biggest fears is being alone in the dark. I have always been afraid of the unknown, and the dark is full of mysteries and dangers. I don't know what might be lurking in the shadows, waiting to attack me or scare me. I feel vulnerable and helpless when I can't see anything around me.
This fear started when I was a child. I used to have nightmares about monsters and ghosts that would come out of the dark and chase me. I would wake up screaming and run to my parents' room for comfort. They would hug me and tell me that it was just a dream, and that there was nothing to be afraid of. They would turn on the night light and tuck me in bed again.
But sometimes, the night light would go out, and I would be plunged into darkness again. I would panic and cry, and call for my parents. But they wouldn't hear me, or they would be too tired to come. I would feel abandoned and terrified, and wish for the morning to come.
As I grew older, I tried to overcome my fear of the dark. I would tell myself that it was irrational and childish, and that I had to face it. I would read books and watch movies about horror and suspense, and try to desensitize myself to the scary things. I would challenge myself to stay in the dark for longer periods of time, and try to calm myself down.
But nothing really worked. I still feel uneasy and anxious when I have to be alone in the dark. I still prefer to sleep with the light on, or at least have a flashlight nearby. I still avoid going out at night, or walking in dark places. I still dread the power outages, or the times when I have to close my eyes.
I don't know if I will ever get rid of this fear. Maybe it is something that I have to live with for the rest of my life. Maybe it is part of who I am. But I hope that someday, I will be able to face the dark without fear, and see it as a friend, not an enemy.
