The last question about the teeth turned out to be fatal. After the answer, "to eat you," the wolf devoured the little girl. However, the woodcutters heard his growling and rushed into the house. They killed the wolf and rescued both the grandmother and Red Riding Hood from his belly.

They buried the wolf in the forest and invited the woodcutters over for tea and pies with butter.
