Diplodocus was a huge plant-eating dinosaur that lived in North America about 150 million years ago. It had a long neck and a long tail, and four strong legs. It was one of the longest dinosaurs ever, reaching up to 26 meters (85 feet) in length.

Diplodocus belonged to a group of dinosaurs called sauropods, which had similar body shapes but different sizes and features. Diplodocus was special because it had double-beamed bones on the underside of its tail, which gave it its name, meaning "double beam" in Greek.
