Hi William! I saw your letter, I'm sorry I couldn't answer, I was in Balkhash. I'll tell you how it was. It was very beautiful and the air was clean. Balkhash is a drainless semi-freshwater lake in the Balkhash-Alakol basin in the south-east of Kazakhstan in three regions of Kazakhstan at once: Almaty, Zhambyl and Karaganda, the second largest non-drying salt lake after the Caspian Sea and the 14th in the list of the largest lakes in the world. The lake is divided by a narrow peninsula into two parts. In the western part it is almost fresh, and in the eastern part it is brackish.
We arrived by car. We started to assemble the tent. We came early and the water was cold. I really wanted to swim. And I couldn't help myself and jumped into the water. I swam for a very long time without interrupting, after I swam in cold water and when we arrived to home I got sick. -

Subject: Greetings from Kazakhstan - A Journey through History and Culture
Dear [Pen Friend's Name],
I hope this email finds you in good health and high spirits. It's been a while since we last connected, and I thought it's high time I shared with you the incredible experience I recently had in Kazakhstan.
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit Almaty, a city that seamlessly blends history, culture, and modernity. As I walked through the streets, surrounded by a fascinating mix of Soviet-era architecture and contemporary structures, I couldn't help but marvel at the unique character of this city.
One of the highlights of my trip was exploring the Kazakh Museum of Folk Musical Instruments. The museum houses an impressive collection of traditional instruments, each with its own rich history and unique sound. It was a captivating journey through the musical heritage of Kazakhstan, and I couldn't help but imagine the vibrant melodies that once echoed through the centuries.
Almaty's historical district, with its narrow winding streets and charming old houses, transported me back in time. The sense of history was palpable as I visited the Ascension Cathedral, a magnificent structure that has withstood the test of time. The panoramic view of the city from the top was breathtaking, and I took a moment to absorb the beauty of the surrounding mountains.
While in Almaty, I also had the chance to savor traditional Kazakh cuisine. The flavors of beshbarmak, manti, and kumis lingered on my taste buds, offering a delicious insight into the culinary traditions of the region. I highly recommend trying these dishes if you ever find yourself in Kazakhstan.
Beyond the city, I ventured into the Charyn Canyon, a geological wonder that left me in awe of nature's artistry. The vast expanse of red rock formations and the winding Charyn River created a surreal landscape that felt like stepping into a painting.
I can't help but feel grateful for this enriching experience, and it has deepened my appreciation for the diverse and vibrant culture of Kazakhstan. I would love to hear about any historical or cultural experiences you've had recently or any exciting plans on the horizon.
Looking forward to catching up soon!
Warm regards,
[Your Name]
