My favourite book at the moment is "Dunno on the Moon" ("Незнайка на Луне") by Nikolay Nosov. This book was written in the 1960-s but it is still popular with children.
The book is about boy-shorties and girl-shorties who decided to flow to the moon and built a space rocket. The main character of the book is Dunno who is lazy, rude, ignorant but curious and kind. Dunno and his friend Roly-Poly accidentally flow to the Moon on their own, and the writer describes their adventures in the society of the moon shorties living according to the laws of capitalism.
I like the book because it isn't a simple fairy-tale for little kids. This book explains a lot of things concerning astronomy and especially economics. Nosov wrote it as a satire on Western capotalism but in fact the book became a description of post-Soviet Russia. I would definitely recommend this book to all my friends.
