Danny was a young, unemployed man, thin and hungry, with narrow shoulders. He was no fool; he knew he was good at anything and didn't mind what he did as long as it brought him some money. Danny was prepared to do anything to improve his situation. He thought over his present state and realized that he couldn't be too particular about the type of job he took. He just wanted to make money and have some luck for a change.

However, despite his efforts, Danny couldn't find a job of any kind. He felt disappointed and frustrated, seeing no way out of his difficult and seemingly hopeless situation. He couldn't make both ends meet, and his torn pockets and holey socks reflected the state of his life.

One day, Danny was sitting on a park bench, wondering how long he could manage on the little money he had left, which was a mere $8.50. He noticed a still burning cigarette end that had been carelessly thrown away by someone else. He rushed to save it, hoping to get a few last puffs from it.
