All we know that children don't work nowadays. Their parents or other adults take care of them. But earlier in history, it was quite normal. Let's examine this situation. In Russia, in 1882 there was the law which forbade children's labour up to twelve years. From 12-15 age, there was a limitation for work time only eight hours a day and ban for night work. Also, there was a ban on children's work at unhealthy manufactures. What could children do? They were allowed to make spoons, cane baskets, painting of wooden dishes. In England that time there was the beginning of the machine manufactures. They displaced hand labour. Every new machine was to take away "bread" from the workers, especially from poor people's children. Those machines were simple so women and children could work on them. But the manufacturers noticed that they could exploit children more profitable than adults. They could pay less and children couldn't defend their interests. Even children of five, six and seven ages had to work at the factories. Besides this, they were to pay fines for some rest or talk to a neighbour.

Child Labor
Child labor is a deeply concerning issue that continues to persist in many parts of the world, posing significant ethical and moral challenges. It refers to the employment of children in various industries and activities, depriving them of their childhood, education, and opportunities for growth. Despite various efforts to eradicate child labor, the problem remains widespread in numerous developing countries.
There are several reasons why child labor exists. Poverty is one of the primary factors driving children to work at an early age. Families in impoverished regions often rely on their children's income to make ends meet, as they struggle to meet the basic necessities of life. Lack of access to education and limited awareness of children's rights also contribute to perpetuating this issue.
Child labor has devastating consequences for children's physical and mental well-being. They are often exposed to hazardous working conditions, compromising their health and safety. Long hours of labor and minimal rest deprive them of the opportunity to play, learn, and enjoy a carefree childhood. Consequently, child labor not only hampers their development but also perpetuates a cycle of poverty and illiteracy.
The global community has taken numerous measures to combat child labor. Many international organizations, governments, and NGOs have been working tirelessly to create awareness about this issue and enforce laws that protect children's rights. The International Labour Organization (ILO) and other agencies have been instrumental in establishing conventions and guidelines to eliminate child labor. Moreover, multinational companies are now under increased pressure to ensure their supply chains are free from child labor, promoting greater corporate responsibility.
Education plays a pivotal role in eradicating child labor. By providing access to quality education, children are empowered to break free from the vicious cycle of poverty. Schools offer a safe and nurturing environment, fostering holistic development and opening doors to better opportunities in the future. Governments should invest more in education and create supportive policies to encourage children to attend school instead of working.
In conclusion, child labor is an issue that demands urgent attention and action from the global community. It robs children of their childhood, health, and education, perpetuating poverty and depriving them of a brighter future. The fight against child labor requires collaborative efforts, including awareness campaigns, policy changes, and increased access to education. Only by working together can we create a world where every child can enjoy their right to a childhood free from exploitation and labor.
