Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius -

The water boils. Can you turn it off for me?

Look! This man is trying to open your car door. -

You hear these people? What are they talking about?

The moon revolves around the Earth.  -

I've gotta go. Be too late. I've gotta go. I AM GOING TO be too late

I usually go to work.

- Hurry! Time to go. I'm coming. Правильно- It's time to go

I hear you have a new job. What's up?  - неправильная часть "i hear you have a new job". I heaed you have a new job

Ex. 2

A shower is a gentle breeze.  (F) breeze -

Hot weather can end in a thunderstorm.  (Т)

If it is wet, the air will be very dry.  (F)

Below zero, water turns to ice.  (T)

Heavy rain means it's raining.

ex. 3

It was very bad storm that our tree fell last night

A  tornado swept through the state, causing terrible destruction

Mediterranean climate is good for growing citrus and grapes

Weather forecast said it was going to rain today

In England, winter is sometimes absolutely frosty.

I couldn't sleep because of the thunder. it was loud.

I don't like working outside in the summer when it's boiling hot

When I woke up this morning, the ground was covered with a frost

Exercise 1. Correct the errors if necessary.

  1. Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius. (Correct)
  2. The water boils. Can you turn it off for me? (Boiling water should not be turned off; this sentence doesn't need correction.)
  3. Look! This man is trying to open your car door. (Correct)
  4. You hear these people? What are they talking about? (Correct)
  5. The moon revolves around the Earth. (Correct)
  6. I've gotta go. Be too late. (I've gotta go, or I'll be too late. The second part of the sentence needs the subject "I.")
  7. I usually go to work. - Hurry! Time to go. I'm coming. (This one is a bit unclear, but it seems like two separate dialogues. The correct version might be: "I usually go to work, but hurry! It's time to go. I'm coming.")
  8. "I hear you have a new job. What's up?" (Correct)

Exercise 2. Decide whether the operators are true (T) or false (F).

  1. A shower is a gentle breeze. (False)
  2. Hot weather can end in a thunderstorm. (True)
  3. If it is wet, the air will be very dry. (False)
  4. Below zero, water turns to ice. (True)
  5. Heavy rain means it's raining. (True)

Exercise 3. Fill in the blanks with one of the words: thunder, storm, forecast, frost, tornado, climate, boiling.

  1. It was very bad storm our tree fell last night.
  2. A tornado swept through the state, causing terrible destruction.
  3. Mediterranean climate good for growing citrus and grapes.
  4. Weather forecast said it was going to rain today.
  5. In England, winter is sometimes absolutely frosty.
  6. I couldn't sleep because thunder it was loud.
  7. I don't like working outside in the summer when it's boiling hot.
  8. When I woke up this morning, the ground was covered frost.
