That ship was the Quedagh Merchant. After defeating the captain, Kidd took command of the ship and seized its cargo. The treasure that Kidd captured was worth E15,000 equivalent to millions today! However, after sailing to the Caribbean, he realised that he would never get away with betraying the British authorities. Hoping to distance himself from his actions, he abandoned the ship and its cargo before sailing to his home in New York. Howev upon his arrival, Kidd ted and sent back to London.
