Saksaul - a genus of woody plants of the subfamily Maravani family Amaranth; earlier the family was attributed to the Marevy family. It forms desert-woody thickets - saxaul forests, the area of which in southern Kazakhstan is about 15 million hectares, in Turkmenistan - 6 million hectares, in Uzbekistan - 0.6 million hectares.Saksaul white is a large shrub 1.5–2.5 m high, and sometimes up to 5 m, growing on desert sands.
