Відповідь:

Dear Ann,

Thanks very much for your last letter. Sorry, I’ve taken so long to put pen to paper, but I was really busy. I’d like to tell you how things are going here, in Britain.

To begin with, I’ve never seen such a big amount of fresh food! The stalls in supermarkets are full of raspberries, watermelons, peaches at any time of year.

What is more, there are lots of fascinating places to go. For instance, a spectacular rollercoaster,  beautiful parks. I’ve also visited a big number of museums.

In addition, the attitude of British towards strangers really stands out. I’ve never got so much attention in other countries.

Well, that’s all for now. Please, drop me a line and tell me your opinion on life in Britain.Say ‘Hi’ to your family!

Best wishes,

Virginia Washington

Dear [Friend's Name],

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. It has been quite some time since we last caught up, and I am excited to share with you the fascinating experiences I have had during my stay here in Britain.

Life in Britain has been nothing short of extraordinary. The rich history, picturesque landscapes, and vibrant culture have captivated me from the moment I arrived. I have had the opportunity to explore some of the iconic landmarks, such as Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, and Stonehenge. Each visit left me in awe of the incredible architecture and the stories they hold within their walls.

However, amidst all the excitement, there is one particular incident that stands out and still sends shivers down my spine. I must tell you about the ghost I encountered in the ancient town of York. It was a misty evening as I strolled through the narrow, cobblestone streets lined with centuries-old buildings. The atmosphere was eerie, and a sense of mystery lingered in the air.

As I turned a corner, I caught a glimpse of a figure standing by the entrance of a dilapidated mansion. It was an apparition, dressed in tattered clothing from a bygone era. My heart skipped a beat as I locked eyes with the ghostly presence. It seemed to beckon me towards it, and curiosity got the better of me.

Trepidation mixed with fascination, I cautiously approached the ghost. It stood there, silent and unmoving, as if trapped between the realms of the living and the dead. The air grew colder, and a chill ran down my spine. I summoned the courage to speak, and to my surprise, the ghost responded in a whispery voice.

"Good evening, traveler," it said, its voice carrying a haunting echo. "I am the spirit of Lady Eleanor, the former resident of this mansion. My soul remains tethered to this place, seeking solace and redemption for the misfortunes that befell me."

We engaged in a conversation that lasted for what felt like hours. Lady Eleanor shared tales of her tragic past, of love lost and secrets buried within the walls of the mansion. It was a poignant and unforgettable encounter, leaving me with a deep appreciation for the history and supernatural lore that pervades Britain.

Since that encounter, I have delved into the rich folklore and ghostly legends that permeate the British Isles. I have visited haunted castles, joined ghost tours, and even read books on paranormal investigations. It has been an exciting journey into the unknown, and I am grateful for the opportunity to experience such a unique aspect of British culture.

Overall, my life in Britain has been filled with remarkable adventures and discoveries. The encounters with the ghostly presence have added a touch of mystique to my stay, making it an unforgettable chapter in my life. I cannot wait to share more stories with you when we meet in person.

Please take care and write back soon. I am eager to hear about your own experiences and adventures.

Warmest regards,

[Your Name]
