two sets of wings
The brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright had always wanted to fly. They lived in Ohio and ran a small bicycle factory. They were deeply shocked when they read in the newspapers about the tragic death of Otto Lilienthal, a German who had published a book about the flying of birds.
They decided to continue Lilienthal’s experiments with gliders. They even tied a glider to a horse which pulled it. After some time, they built the first plane with a petrol engine. They called it ‘flyer’. It had two sets of wings and two propellers, and the pilot sat out in front in the open air.
In December 1903, in Kitty Hawk, Wilbur Wright made the first airplane flight in history staying in the air for twelve seconds. The same day, he flew two more times and managed to stay in the air for fifty-nine seconds. And this was just the beginning of the real history of flying.

The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, are credited with inventing and building the world's first successful powered airplane in 1903. Here are the main parts of an airplane:
Fuselage: The central body of the airplane where passengers, cargo, and the cockpit are located.
Wings: The wings generate lift, allowing the airplane to stay airborne. They are typically located on both sides of the fuselage.
Engines: These provide the necessary thrust to move the airplane forward. There are various types of aircraft engines, including jet engines and propellers.
Tail: The tail includes the horizontal stabilizer, vertical stabilizer, and rudder. These control surfaces help maintain stability and control during flight.
Cockpit: The cockpit is the area where the pilots operate the aircraft and control its systems.
Empennage: This is the rear section of the aircraft, which includes the tail and its components.
Landing Gear: The landing gear consists of wheels or skids that allow the airplane to take off and land safely.
Ailerons: These control surfaces are located on the wings and are used to roll the aircraft left or right.
Elevators: Elevators, typically on the tail, control the aircraft's pitch (nose up or down).
Flaps: Flaps are movable surfaces on the wings that increase lift and reduce speed during takeoff and landing.
Rudder: The rudder, located on the vertical stabilizer, controls the aircraft's yaw (side-to-side movement).
Spoilers: Spoilers are used to reduce lift on the wings and increase descent rate.
Slats: Slats are movable wing surfaces that enhance lift and improve aircraft performance at low speeds.
These are the primary parts of an airplane, and they work together to enable controlled flight.
