According to one of them, the word "Odessa" was formed from the French word, which translates as "water". According to another version, the city is named after an ancient Greek colony that existed not far from the location of modern Odessa.

During our exciting two-day excursion, we visited the famous Opera and Ballet Theater, the Archaeological Museum, saw the statue of the Duke of Richelieu, climbed the Potemkin Staircase 142 meters long and, of course, visited the catacombs of Odessa. As for me, what impressed me most was the walk along the catacombs and the stories that the guide told about the heroic struggle of the inhabitants of the city against the German invaders during the Great Patriotic War. Unfortunately, during these two days, we did not have enough time to visit all the museums, and we did not enjoy swimming in the sea, because the weather was too cool for that. Two days flew by, and we had to get home. But for myself, I decided (la) that the next summer vacation I will spend directly in this wonderful city.
