Many people are superstitious. They believe in unproven and mysterious facts. Moreover, they are afraid of them. For example, when a black cat crosses their path, they say it’s for bad luck. Or, when they walk under the ladder, it also brings bad luck. It goes without saying that number 13 is an unlucky and evil number. In Britain people avoid having houses or flats of number 13. They don’t even have the 13th floor or room number in hotels. The unluckiest day is considered to be Friday the 13th, although some people simply have fun on this day, turning the superstition into an amusing game.

Superstition That Came True

Superstitions have always played a significant role in human culture, influencing people's thoughts, actions, and beliefs. While many dismiss them as baseless beliefs, there are instances in which superstitions have come true, leaving people astonished. One striking example of such a phenomenon occurred with my friend Anna.

Anna was an extremely superstitious person, firmly believing in signs and omens. One day, she found a four-leaf clover while taking a walk in the park. According to legend, finding a four-leaf clover brings good luck. Anna, already aware of this superstition, considered it an incredibly fortunate find.

The very next day, Anna unexpectedly received a promotion at work. She couldn't believe her luck and attributed it to the four-leaf clover. This incident strengthened her belief in superstitions even more.

Another instance that left Anna in awe of superstitions happened when she broke a mirror. It is commonly believed that breaking a mirror brings seven years of bad luck. Anna was devastated when it happened, as she had always feared such an occurrence. However, surprisingly, over the following seven years, Anna encountered various mishaps and misfortunes. This unfortunate series of events made her firmly believe in the power of superstitions.

One of the most bizarre superstitions that came true for Anna was the belief in black cats. Anna avoided crossing paths with black cats, as it is considered unlucky in many cultures. One evening, while walking home, she unintentionally crossed paths with a black cat. Days later, she faced a minor accident, which she immediately connected to crossing paths with the black cat. This incident cemented her belief in superstitions, leaving her astonished.

Although these instances may seem mere coincidences, they had a significant impact on Anna and her belief in superstitions. They made her realize that sometimes, superstitions do come true, leaving a lasting impression on her mind.

In conclusion, while superstitions may often be considered irrational and baseless, there are examples where they have come true, surprising even the most skeptical individuals. My friend Anna's experiences with a four-leaf clover, a broken mirror, and crossing paths with a black cat have solidified her belief in superstitions. These incidents show that sometimes, there might be more to superstitions than mere coincidence, causing people to question their dismissive attitudes towards these beliefs.
