Choosing the Correct Tense

To determine whether to use the Present Simple or Present Continuous tense in the given sentences, we need to consider the context and the time frame in which the actions are happening.

1. "I (10) ____ (visit) England every two or three years, so I (11) ____ (speak) some English but not much."

Here, the speaker is talking about a regular action that happens every two or three years. The Present Simple tense is used for habits and routines. Therefore, the correct form is:

- "I visit England every two or three years, so I speak some English but not much." 2. "At present, I (12) ____ (do) a course at a language school in London and I (13) ____ (learn) lots of new stuff!"

The phrase "at present" indicates that the action is happening now. The Present Continuous tense is used for actions happening at the moment of speaking or around the current time. Therefore, the correct form is:

- "At present, I am doing a course at a language school in London and I am learning lots of new stuff!" 3. "Apart from that, in the afternoons I (14) ____ (go) out with my classmates and we (try) to practice our English as much as possible."

The phrase "in the afternoons" suggests a regular activity. The Present Simple tense is used for habits and routines. Therefore, the correct form is:

- "Apart from that, in the afternoons I go out with my classmates and we try to practice our English as much as possible."

Final Answer:

1. I visit England every two or three years, so I speak some English but not much. 2. At present, I am doing a course at a language school in London and I am learning lots of new stuff! 3. Apart from that, in the afternoons I go out with my classmates and we try to practice our English as much as possible.
