                                      My favourite game that I played as a child

Playing games on computers or smartphones is popular today, but we should play physical games too if we want to be fit.

My favourite outdoor game is "Hot Potato".

Children stand in a circle and throw a ball to each other. But they mustn't hold the ball too long because it's a hot potato! If someone holds the ball too long or drops it, then he or she takes a place/squats down in the centre of the circle ("in the pot") and becomes "the potato".

The players can "rescue" those sitting in the pot and return them to the game. To do this, they need to throw the ball to the center and hit the "potatoes". Everyone touched by the ball stands back into the circle and continues to play.

The "potatoes" can try to catch the ball themselves, but without standing up. If one of the potatoes catches the ball, then all the potatoes stand back into the circle, and the player from whom the ball is caught takes a seat in the center.

Дети встают в круг и бросают друг другу мяч. Но они не должны держать мяч слишком долго, потому что это горячая картошка! Если кто-то держит мяч слишком долго или роняет его, то он или она садится (на корточки) в центр круга («в котел») и становится «картошкой».

Игроки могут «спасти» сидящих в котле и вернуть их в игру. Для этого им нужно бросить мяч в центр и попасть по «картошке». Каждый, кого коснулся мяч, становится в круг и продолжает игру.

«Картошки» могут сами попытаться поймать мяч, но не вставая. Если одна из картошек ловит мяч, то все картошки встают в круг, а игрок, от которого был пойман мяч, садится в центр.

My favorite childhood game was called "Red Light, Green Light." It's a simple yet exciting game played with a group of friends, typically outside. One person acts as the "stoplight" and stands at one end of the playing field, while the other players stand at the other end.

The stoplight calls out "green light" and the players race towards them, but as soon as the stoplight calls out "red light," the players have to stop in their tracks. Anyone caught moving after the "red light" call is out and has to go back to the starting line.

The game continues like this, with the stoplight calling out "green light" and "red light" until someone reaches the stoplight and tags them. That player becomes the new stoplight, and the game continues.

I loved playing this game because it was so much fun to try and sneak in a few extra steps even after the stoplight called out "red light," hoping not to get caught. It was also a great way to spend time with friends and get some exercise in the process.

Looking back, I realize that "Red Light, Green Light" was much more than just a game to me. It taught me important lessons about patience, following rules, and being a good sport. Overall, it remains a nostalgic memory from my childhood that I will always cherish.
