THE LEANING TOWER SYUYUMBIKE IN KAZAN
Syuyumbike tower is located on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin complex and is one of the main attractions of the city of Kazan.
Its popularity is due to the interesting history and legends, connected with it, as well as the fact that it is falling. The 58-metre tower is often called the architectural symbol of not only the capital but of the whole of Tatarstan. It was built in the seventeenth century. Like the famous leaning tower of Pisa the Syuyumbike tower is also a so-called "falling" tower, and the deviation from the vertical axis is about 2 meters. (The Syuyumbike tower is two metres higher than the tower of Pisa in Italy).
Syuyumbike is a female name and it means "beloved Queen" of the people of Kazan in the 16th century. Indeed, Syuyumbike was a beautiful and noble educated woman, the widow of the Khan, ruined in the struggle for the throne. According to one of the legends it was she who ordered to build this tower in the memory of her beloved husband. According to another legend she went upstairs of the tower and threw herself from the top on the ground and died. Since then, the tower was called after her.

The Suyumbike Tower, also known as the Söyembikä Tower, is a prominent architectural landmark located in Kazan, Russia. It is situated within the walls of the Kazan Kremlin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tower's name, Suyumbike, is derived from the last queen of the Kazan Khanate, who according to legend, was forced to build the tower.
The Suyumbike Tower is a remarkable structure that blends elements of both Islamic and Russian architectural styles. It stands at a height of approximately 58 meters (190 feet) and is composed of brick and stone. The tower consists of eight tiers, each progressively narrowing towards the top, culminating in a small cupola.
One notable feature of the Suyumbike Tower is its leaning position, similar to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It is believed to have inclined due to a combination of factors, including its construction on soft ground and the weight of the upper tiers. The tilt gives the tower a unique and intriguing appearance.
The tower's exterior is adorned with intricate decorative elements, including arched windows, ornamental carvings, and geometric patterns. These embellishments reflect the artistic influences of both Islamic and Russian cultures, creating a visually captivating fusion.
