Потому что папирус делать очень долго и дорого, а делали его из стеблей бамбука
с пергаментом та же фигня, долго возиться, все вручную
а с бумагой проще, закинул в пилу, машина все сделала

Why are papyrus and parchment not used as information carriers anymore, while paper is still in use?

Papyrus and parchment were widely used as information carriers in ancient times, but they are not commonly used today. The primary reason for this is the development and widespread adoption of paper as a more practical and efficient medium for writing and printing.

Papyrus was one of the earliest writing materials used by ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians. It was made from the pith of the papyrus plant, which was abundant in the Nile Delta. Papyrus was lightweight, flexible, and relatively easy to produce, making it a popular choice for writing. However, it had some limitations. Papyrus was susceptible to damage from moisture, making it less durable over time. It was also more expensive to produce compared to other materials.

Parchment, on the other hand, was made from animal skins, typically from sheep or goats. It was widely used in Europe during the medieval period. Parchment was more durable than papyrus and could withstand moisture better. It was also suitable for both writing and painting. However, parchment was more expensive and time-consuming to produce compared to papyrus.

The invention of paper revolutionized the way information was recorded and transmitted. Paper, made from plant fibers such as wood pulp or cotton, offered several advantages over papyrus and parchment. It was cheaper to produce, more readily available, and easier to write on. Paper was also more durable and could be mass-produced using printing presses, enabling the dissemination of knowledge on a larger scale.

Today, paper continues to be widely used as an information carrier due to its versatility, affordability, and accessibility. However, with the advancement of digital technology, there has been a shift towards electronic forms of communication and storage. Digital media, such as computers, smartphones, and the internet, have become the primary means of accessing and sharing information in the modern world.

In conclusion, papyrus and parchment are no longer commonly used as information carriers due to the development and widespread adoption of paper, which offered greater practicality, durability, and affordability. However, with the rise of digital technology, the use of paper itself is also evolving as more information is being stored and transmitted electronically.
