Я часто бачу в саду метеликів-кропивниць або ж кропив'янок. Вони невеликі, але помітні. У цих метеликів цегляно-червоні крильця з великими чорними цятками. Метелики цього виду, звичайно, носять таку назву не тому, що п’ють кров. Просто їхні гусениці виростають на кропиві.

Крила кропивниць гарної форми, верхня їхня частина виступає в порівнянні з нижньою. Зубчасті краї крилець мережані чорно -білим. Завдяки цим прикметам кропивницю не сплутаєш з будь-яким іншим метеликом.

Якщо метелик сидить на квітці, то можна побачити також нижню частину його крил. Але вона зовсім неяскрава, сіро-бурого кольору з широкою жовтою смугою.

Я люблю спостерігати за метеликами цієї породи. Особливо, коли по саду їх літає декілька. Або коли метелик сидить на квітці, рівненько розправивши крила. Здається, простягнеш руку та обережно візьмеш у долоні це диво. Але варто потягнутися за нею, як кропив'янка вже знову тріпоче крильцями в повітрі.
