Хотя в наши дни религия, к сожалению, зачастую противопостовляется науке, однако в прошлом религия не только задерживала развитие естественных наук, но и зачастую спосоьствовала их развитию

Уже в 17 веке, на закате эпохи возрождения и в начале эпохи просвещения, в мире началась Научная революция. После преследования прогрессивных ученых, таких как Коперник, в XVI веке, Церковь перестала активно преследовать учёных за еретичество, и религия стала мотивацией для многих учёных.
