Если очень коротко, то Пьер и Андрей отличаются от Анатоля тем, что они "живые", то есть, способные мыслить, рассуждать персонажи. В течение всего романа Пьер и Андрей проходят сложный жизненный путь, полный взлетов и падений. Пьер отличается доброй и мягкой душой. Вспомните, как заботится он о всех, кто нуждается в его заботе. Как он старается помочь своим крестьянам. С другой стороны, Пьер не такой сильный и волевой, как Андрей. Болконский в самом начале романа рвется на войну с целью прославиться. Он хочет совершить подвиг, он одержим идеей наполеонизма. Ему приходится многое пережить, чтобы разочароваться в этой идее. Андрей гораздо более приспособлен к жизни, чем Пьер. Вспомните, как легко он обустроил жизнь своих урестьян в Богучарово. Но ему мало этого, он всегда рвется к полезной и разумной деятельности.  Пьер идет по жизни медленнее. Он осторожно выбирает свой путь. В самом начале он так хочет влиться в общество, собравшееся у Анны Павловны Шерер. Ему кажется, что это умные люди, ему хочется говорить с ними, он еще не понимает, что они глупы и лишь повторяют то, что модно говорить. Пьер подобно Андрею поддается обману, "очарованию". Разбогатев, он оказывается окружен людьми, желающими что-нибудь выпросить у него для себя. Ему кажется, что он всеми любим, что люди к нему стремятся, а не к его деньгам. По этой же причине он женится на Элен. У него не хватает воли бороться за себя.
В отличие от этих двух персонажей, Анатоль Курагин представляет собой человека крайне легкомысленного и, я бы сказала, глупого. Эгоистичного.  Он, увидев красавицу Наташу, начинает ухаживать за ней. Совершенно не думает о чувствах девушки. Не представляет себе, что будет после того, как они с Наташей убегут. Ему все равно. По этой причине, он совершенно не расстраивается, когда побег с Наташей срывается.
Анатоль яркий представитель высшего света: поверхностный, глупый, эгоистичный.
