Торжество Человека над природой – одна из основных идей сказок Киплинга. Как и в сказке “Отчего у Верблюда горб”. Верблюд за неподчинение Человеку и отказ служить ему наравне с Конем, Псом и Быком был наказан Джинном. Верблюд так и не смог наверстать эти упущенные три дня, имеет в наказание горб и не может научиться вести как себя нужно.  И все это потому, что Человек – венец природы, автор ставит его над всем живым, а отказ служить ему верой и правдой наказывается самым суровым образом. Киплинг в этих сказках берет на себя роль древнейшего летописца – свидетеля создания мироздания с его порядками.
