Российская империя недаром же Николай 2 та старался проводить различный конференции, к примеру В гааге), повод искали довольно долго так как све хотели предстать в глазах мира как обороняющаяся сторона.поводом к началу первой мировой войны послужило убйство в Сараево (Сараевкий инцидент) эрцгерцога Франса Фердинанда (наследник престола Австро-Венгрии, в июне 1914 года Австро-Венгрия планировала провести военные учения в Боснии, на них должен был присутствовать Франс Фердинанд)
25 июня 1914 года в центре Сарае Гаврила Принцип произвел 7 выстрелов и убил эрцгерцога.
в качестве же причин войны, которй большой частью были связаны с сособой стадией развития капитализма/империализма в которую вошли страны европы, в современной отечественной историографии обычно выделяют следующие положения 1 стремление некоторх государств, особенно Германии и Италии колоний как рынка сбта для развития экономики 2 политизированность экономики ряда европейских государств(те ориентированость экономики на военный лад так как все понимали что что новая война сулила огромные прибыли)
3 финансовый капитал бл заинтересован в военном конфликте (так как центр этого капитала переместился в США, американские банкир бли заинтересован в военном конфликте в европе так как рассчитывали что европейсие страны обратятся к ним за кредитами) 4 к началу 20 века практически во всех европейских странах накопилась масса противоречий, поэтому правящий круги рассчитали погасить эти противоречия сплоив общество перед лицом общего врага. 5 противоречия на балканах между Россией Турцией и Австро-венгрией (Россия выступала как защитница славян в связи с чем неоднократно вела войны с Турцией. правительство Австро-венгрии не устраивало такое положение России)
