Еллинизм це дійсно найважливіший період в історії Стародавнього світу, який почався під час царювання Олександра Македонського і закінчився з завоюванням римською армією останнього еллинистического держави - Єгипет. Це час поширення грецької (еллинистической) культури на всіх землях, що входили до складу імперії Олександра Македонського. Грецька мова стала мовою міжнародного спілкування, а грецьких філософів і письменників запрошували до себе правителі різних країн.
